About Church
Maranatha Prayer House is a Pentecostal church located in Thiruninravur, on the outskirts of Chennai, South India.
The church was founded by Pastor Lazarus M. Rayappan and a few believers on 20 September 1992. The first worship service was held in the dining hall of the Maranatha Intermission Children's Home in Thiruninravur. Though the church began with only a few families, God gave them a vision to reach families in Thiruninravur and the surrounding villages with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Over the years, God confirmed His purpose for the church through many prayers, visions, and prophetic words. In the year 2000, the church purchased its own property, and on 29 December 2000, the congregation moved into its new church building.
Since then, the church has continued to grow by the grace of God. We have witnessed God's presence and power in our worship services and ministries. His Word has been fulfilled through many answered prayers, testimonies, and changed lives. We have also had the privilege of seeing many families from Hindu backgrounds come to know Jesus Christ, particularly from the surrounding villages of Nadukuthagai, Veppampattu, Sevvapet, Pakkam, and the neighboring areas.
Today, approximately 120 families, with more than 300 members, regularly gather for worship and fellowship at Maranatha Prayer House.
As God has continued to lead us, the church has expanded its ministries to serve and strengthen people of all ages. These include:
- Tamil Worship Services
- Evening Worship Services
- Sunday School ministries in Nadukuthagai, Veppampattu, and Kaliyankuppam
- Bible Study Fellowships
- Women's Fellowship
- Young Families Fellowship
- Men's Fellowship
- Youth Fellowship
- Outreach and Evangelism
- Various ministries that provide opportunities for believers to serve and participate
Our desire is to remain faithful to God's Word, grow together as a family of believers, and reach more people with the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. We look forward to all that God has in store for Maranatha Prayer House and the communities around us.
